Today I want to give a shout out to the folks at David’s Tent DC for the work they are doing.
David’s Tent DC is an organization solely dedicated to presenting songs of prayer and worship to Jesus Christ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This 24/7/365 prayer, praise, and worship is performed live from a single location by worship leaders from all over the world. This around the clock music, prayer and worship has been going on non-stop since 2012. (Check out the David’s Tent You Tube channel to learn how this amazing ministry began.}
Although it is in our nation’s capital of Washington, DC, right on the National Mall, David’s Tent DC has no political or social agenda it is promoting. Their only agenda is to praise God.
They draw their inspiration from one the most compelling characters of the Bible, King David. Although many remember David as the youth who slew the giant Goliath with a stone from a slingshot, David became a great and godly king of Israel. David was an accomplished musician and is credited with writing the majority of the psalms in the Bible.
As is noted in the David’s Tent DC brochure; “Three thousand years ago King David set up a tent to host God’s Presence next to his palace and hired 4,288 people to worship God 24/7. David’s Tent DC has the same heart – to make Jesus central in our lives and in our nation.”
I think it can be argued that the current political atmosphere is pretty unusual. The opposing agendas are contending over issues that have deeply moral ramifications. And even though David’s Tent DC has no political aspirations one has to believe that their persistent and powerful appeal for God’s presence in out nation’s capital could have far reaching implications on the impact of God’s morality on our lawmakers and those who influence them.
In this brief note I can’t adequately describe the scope of the work being done by David’s Tent DC, nor the profound spiritual and social healing that could result from their efforts. I invite you to visit their website at www.davidstentdc.org , watch their YouTube channel (David’s Tent DC Podcast), pray for them, donate to their cause, and if you are in DC, drop in to visit them at their tent on the National Mall.
